Do we notice miracles in our everyday lives and believe in them instead of forgetting about them or even failing to notice them?
The disciples did the latter. They forgot about a miracle which Jesus performed just earlier on. This is found in Mark 8:1-10. It talks about the loaves and the fish again, but a 2nd time. Instead of believing that Jesus could feed the thousands, they questioned Jesus about his capabilities! The 1st miracle of the loaves and fish, was performed not too long ago, and they have already forgotten about it!
I was quite exasperated when I read this passage. I feel that sometimes, we tend to not realise the miracles that God performs in our lives. It can be a big/small miracle. We just need to notice it, and from there, spread the Good News of Christ to the world.
Another thing that I took home from the passage was an assurance that we won't go hungry when we're with Christ. In the later part of the passage, it talks about Jesus wanting to feed the crowds, and he didn't want them to go home empty handed for fear of them fainting on the way home. I took comfort in that verse - Mark 8:3. There were many who had come a long way just to listen to the word of God. The same thing applies to us, we may have come a long way and we feel like giving up. Let's not give up, but persevere instead, and in time to come, God will satisfy our hunger for Him!
It's definitely not going to be an easy journey for our faith. It's going to take a lot of patience and a lot of perserverance. But let's take hope in the love that God has for us! ((:
Amen.
